*** PISD
BOUNDARY ISSUE ALERT ***
If you do not want to see
the boundaries issue reopened by the PISD
Board and have your schools impacted, you need to read this and show up
wearing a WHITE SHIRT at the Board’s next Work Session on:
Tuesday, August 16th
6:00PM
@
PISD Sockwell
Center
6301 Chapel Hill Boulevard
(across from Willow Bend Mall)
It is extremely important that we get as many
people as possible to show up in a WHITE SHIRT AND SIT TOGETHER AS ONE GROUP to
show we are against reopening feeder alignments and boundaries. Therefore,
please inform others by passing along this email.
In case you are not aware, it appears that a
majority of the current PISD Board of
Trustees wants to reopen the school feeder alignments/boundaries issue that was
last voted on and finalized by previous Board members in December 2009. This
issue of reopening the school feeder alignments/boundaries was brought up for a
vote at the last board meeting on August 2nd,
at which time it was tabled for further discussion at the Board’s next Work
Session; which is scheduled to occur this coming Tuesday, August 16th, at 6:00 PM.
HOW WILL THIS IMPACT ME AND/OR MY CHILDREN?
If the Board votes to reopen this issue at their
next scheduled Board Meeting on September 6th,
then everything could be on the table. School boundaries could be redrawn,
feeder patterns could change, and school closures could be discussed. The
negative consequences of such changes would be felt across the entire district -
from our senior high schools all the way down to and throughout our elementary
schools.
We are forming “SAVE ALL OF
PISD”, a coalition of concerned parents,
students and citizens throughout the entire district that share the common
fundamental principal of not wanting to see this issue needlessly readdressed by
the Board. We prefer to have the Board
focus the Administration’s energies and resources on other, more important
issues, such as addressing the budget deficit, declining student test scores and
lower school rankings. We want to see the Board focusing on moving the district
forward in order to continue to improve and evolve
PISD so that it will always be recognized
as a first class educational system - not looking back and changing things in
order to satisfy a small group of constituents at the sacrifice of all others in
PISD.
To maximize effectiveness, we need to form a very
large base of people that collectively communicates to the Board our desire to
leave all our schools, feeder alignments and boundaries alone. Our current goal
is to convince the Board members to vote “NO” to reopening this issue at their
September 6th Board Meeting.
Join our SAVE ALL OF
PISD coalition and take an active role by informing others you know by
passing along this email and participating in our courses of action.
1st Action – Attend the upcoming board work session on
Tuesday, August 16th at 6:00PM
at the Sockwell Center and
wearing a WHITE SHIRT in order to illustrate that you are against reopening
this issue. It is important to have many people show up as possible and all
sit together in order make the Board clearly understand that the majority of the
PISD community does not want this issue
reopened.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The Work Session is not open for public speaking.
Everyone needs to be quiet during the meeting and conduct themselves in a
respectable fashion. This means that there cannot be clapping, shouting,
moaning or other verbal and non-verbal communication from the audience. We
want our group to be taken very seriously, and any misconduct would be damaging
to our cause.
After the meeting, anyone can speak to a Board
member. Therefore, it is encouraged that you stay for the entire meeting and
speak to a Board member informing him/her of your concerns and encourage them to
vote “NO” to reopening this issue at their September 6th Board Meeting.
2nd
Action – Mark your calendars
now to plan on attending the Board Meeting on September the 6th at 7:00 PM in your white
shirts. We need to have as large a group as possible show up to attend this
meeting as well. So make plans to attend now.
Stay tuned…more will be forthcoming from SAVE ALL
OF PISD. We are in the process of
launching the WWW.SAVEALLOFPISD.ORG website, along with a
Facebook page and Twitter account where
we will be providing you with more information, as well as announcing future
actions that we will need your assistance and support. It is important that the
entire community works together in order to achieve our common goal.
